Hackers attributed to North Korea stole at least 6.3 billion dollars in crypto from Binance’s wallets, and about half of that amount was frozen as the stolen assets moved across various blockchains, according to security researchers cited by TechCrunch.
Thursday’s attack on Binance was most likely the work of the North Korean group TraderTraitor, which took digital assets from the exchange across 10 blockchain networks, most of the funds in about 20 minutes, according to TRM Labs, in information published by the Korea Herald. Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, suspended all deposits and withdrawals while its investigation into the breach continues.
