The leadership of the Communist Party of China elected Gen. Zhang Shengmin, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, to the Politburo, according to AP News.

Xi Jinping had earlier purged two of China’s top generals, leaving Zhang as the commission’s only member besides Xi himself, also according to AP News.
