The U.S.
Department of Justice (DOJ) sent target letters to attorney Marc Elias and others in the case of the namesake Alaska Senate candidacy. The department has already issued more than 100 grand jury subpoenas and preservation letters, and investigators have begun interviewing witnesses. The probe examines whether the ballot presence of retired teacher Dan J. Sullivan, namesake of Republican Senator Dan S. Sullivan, was arranged to confuse voters and siphon votes from the incumbent. As of Tuesday evening, the Justice Department had not appealed the ruling by federal judge Sharon L. Gleason, who dismissed without a hearing the bid to halt certification of a potential win by Democrat Mary Peltola. Elias said Trump’s Justice Department was targeting him on Election Day and that he would not be intimidated by a “sham investigation.”
