Middle Eastern media outlets published this week the text of the Mecca Defense Pact signed by Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan on August 7, 2026, according to The Jerusalem Post.
The agreement establishes a trilateral defense concept under which an armed attack against one member is considered an attack against all three. It provides for a permanent secretariat, rotating leadership, regular ministerial meetings and the admission of new members, which, in the newspaper’s assessment, suggests something more ambitious than a typical defense-cooperation memorandum.
