The Joe Biden and Donald Trump administrations repeatedly asked SpaceX to turn its Starlink service on or off in various countries, the Jerusalem Post reported.
Under Biden, the requests included switching off the service to prevent Iranian proxy militias in Yemen and Lebanon from using it to communicate, and activating it to provide internet inside Iran and in Ukraine to support its military. The Trump administration also discussed with Musk and SpaceX getting Starlink terminals into Iran after US-Israeli strikes there in June 2025 and again in February 2026, the Times of Israel reported.
