Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan said at a briefing that the city “is in famine, not on the brink of it”, while local officials say a siege by Houthi rebels has pushed residents into famine.
A Saudi airstrike in western Taiz killed at least 13 people on Thursday, according to the Houthi-run health ministry. The World Food Program said it cannot reach over 600,000 people in the city who depend on humanitarian aid, and that wheat flour stocks are nearly exhausted.
