On election day in Israel, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of having pledged to the US administration that he would form a unity government with opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot and without him after the elections, according to The Times of Israel.
“Prime Minister Netanyahu has pledged to the US administration that, after the elections, he will form a unity government with Eisenkot and without Ben Gvir,” the minister wrote on X, citing a report by Israel Hayom. The Jerusalem Post recorded that Ben Gvir said Netanyahu needs to stand with him on the right and pursue a fully right-wing government. The Israel Hayom report describes a US-backed proposal with a rotation government of about two years, advancing the Abraham Accords with a focus on Saudi Arabia and a presidential pardon for Netanyahu — a possibility the President's Residence denied having discussed.
