13 people and three companies are standing trial at the Paris criminal court for complicity in tax fraud and money laundering by an organized gang, for having allowed more than a hundred wealthy French taxpayers to escape at least €54 million in taxes between 2007 and 2018.
Other proceedings over the scheme are under way in Belgium and Switzerland. The newspaper L’Humanité points to €200 million that the accused are alleged to have made disappear from the tax authority’s radar, through offshore companies and bank accounts in several countries.
