Okinawa Governor Genta Koja said Friday he accepts the deployment of the American MV-22 Osprey aircraft at Futenma air station, reversing the province historic opposition, according to Kyodo News.
Previous prefectural governments had opposed the deployment since before the aircraft were first stationed at the base in 2012 over safety concerns, and Koja took office late last month.
