Steve Witkoff, the US envoy, met with President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg on Wednesday to discuss Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and thanked Putin for lifting Russia's ban on diesel exports, AP News reported in a text republished by France24.

According to the agency, Witkoff said the move would help lower prices for US farmers and truckers and that he hoped to discuss the resumption of trilateral talks involving the US, Russia and Ukraine.
