A Russian missile destroyed Dnipro’s hospice on Monday night, and nearly 50 terminally ill patients were transferred to other facilities; the oldest was 90 years old.
In Kharkiv, a hospital was hit and 73 people were wounded, most of them elderly patients, according to Volodymyr Zelensky. Russian strikes on an aid center, a hospice and a hospital killed at least 38 civilians and injured scores of others in 24 hours. Kyiv’s water supply was entirely cut off “due to enemy attacks and damage to the capital’s energy infrastructure,” the supplier Kyivvodokanal said, and the entire metro network was suspended on Tuesday. Russia also struck energy infrastructure in nine regions, affecting water and heating. Zelensky said Russia launched 289 drones, 17 ballistic missiles and 59 cruise missiles overnight across the country, and three thermal power plants of Ukraine’s largest private energy company were out of operation, according to the company. The UN human rights monitoring mission said the aid distribution at the school in Komyshuvakha had been highly publicized and that the attack “seems to have violated the most fundamental principles of international humanitarian law.”
