French security forces arrested a man on Tuesday believed to be linked to ultra-left movements over the burning down of a historic town hall in Limoges, according to The Hindu.

The man, 34 according to a source with knowledge of the case, was detained by officers of the RAID unit in the nearby town of Val d’Issoire, the Limoges prosecutor’s office said, and the Counter-Terrorism Sub-Directorate (SDAT) was called in to investigate the suspected arson of the 1883 building, whose roof and belfry collapsed. In parliament, deputies reached an agreement on Tuesday to create a commission of inquiry into the weekend violence, according to Carta Capital.
