The president of Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Justice Kassio Nunes Marques, gave Meta 24 hours to submit a technical report on how the “Exército do Lula” channel works, a WhatsApp group supporting the re-election bid of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of the Workers’ Party (PT).
The ruling requires the company to explain the technical criteria it uses to tell “legitimate mobilisation” apart from “potentially irregular coordinated behaviour”. US lawmakers demanded answers from Meta after reports that WhatsApp’s artificial intelligence refused to create images of Lula while accepting those of Flávio Bolsonaro of the Liberal Party (PL), according to G1.
