Democrat David Crowley, the Milwaukee County executive, defeated Republican congressman Tom Tiffany in Wisconsin’s governor race and will become the state’s first Black governor.
With 74% of the votes counted, Crowley had 53.8% against Tiffany’s 46.2%, according to Associated Press estimates. The contest cost more than US$195 million, the most expensive in state history, and more than 60% of the total went to boosting Tiffany.
