Serbian authorities arrested the head of the country’s criminal police directorate on suspicion of abuse of office and denied the detention was linked to the elections held a week earlier, Al Jazeera reported.

Prosecutor Nenad Stefanovic said, according to the outlet, that the two detainees are suspected of abusing their offices and failing to perform their duties.
