One hundred people were arrested in Barcelona on Saturday evening after hooded demonstrators at an anti-establishment rally looted shops and set fire to street furniture around the city's central Plaza de Catalunya, Reuters reported in a text republished by the Jerusalem Post.
The rally was called in social media posts under the slogan “against the system”, using the phrase “Institut Indignats”, a translation of “Lyceés Indignés”, the banner of student protests in France in recent weeks. Núria Parlon, the interior minister for the Spanish region of Catalonia, said more than 30 fires were set and 14 stores were vandalized or looted, adding that around 25% of those arrested were minors.
