The United States banned all Chinese laboratories from testing electronic devices destined for the US market, according to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), just weeks before President Donald Trump is due to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted to bar Chinese labs from testing devices such as smartphones, cameras and computers for use in the US, according to Reuters, in an article republished by KWSN. FCC Chair Brendan Carr said that in 2025, 82% of electronics were tested in China, which does not have an agreement with the US, also according to Reuters.
