A Hong Kong court sentenced activist Joshua Wong to 10 years in prison on Thursday after he pleaded guilty to “foreign collusion,” his second conviction under a national security law.

The sentence stems from the global campaign to instigate sanctions against mainland China and Hong Kong after the 2019 protests. Wong was already serving a sentence for subversion in the primary election case and was charged alongside his former party colleague Nathan Law and other activists. Foreign consuls attended the hearing, with a heavy police presence and a large crowd of media outside the court.
