Israel Defense Forces (IDF) chief of staff Eyal Zamir requested an in-depth discussion and formal authorization before carrying out a directive from the political echelon for an action related to Iran, according to the Jerusalem Post, citing Channel 12.
Security officials told N12 the action could “trigger a rapid escalation into a confrontation with Iran”. Benjamin Netanyahu denied the report of an “unprecedented confrontation” with Zamir over the political leadership’s effort to order some kind of military action related to Iran just before Tuesday’s election, according to the Times of Israel.
