Israel's National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, accused Police Commissioner Daniel Levy on Monday of ordering “harsh violence” against Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) protesters to appease the opposition after last week's election.

Ben Gvir also petitioned the High Court to cancel an April injunction that forbids him from interfering in the police's use of force. On Thursday, three protesters were arrested after a Haredi protest near Bnei Brak turned violent, leaving three police officers wounded and several protesters injured.
