Nearly 48 million Americans have already cast early ballots in the midterm elections, a strong turnout across several battleground states, according to the University of Florida’s Election Lab, which counted 47,922,669 early votes nationwide by noon on Friday.

The figure exceeds the previous midterm record of 45.9 million votes, set before the 2022 election. Among those who have voted, Democrats account for about 44%, compared with 31% Republicans and 25% voters with no party affiliation or registered with minor parties, according to the Election Lab.
