Jon Ossoff, a Democrat, won the U.S. Senate race in Georgia against Republican Rep. Mike Collins, according to an Associated Press race call.
With 38 percent of votes counted, Ossoff stood at 63 percent and Collins at 29 percent, according to the Associated Press, in an article republished by Al Jazeera. Ossoff is seen as a possible contender for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination. In the House, Republicans hold 218 seats and Democrats hold 214, and Democrats need to flip three seats to take control, in a scenario in which the Cook Political Report projects a Democratic gain of 15 to 25 seats.
