US President Donald Trump blocked, in an executive order signed on Friday night, sanctions on Russia approved by Congress to punish the country for its war in Ukraine, according to the BBC.
In the order, Trump said it is in the US “national interests” to withhold some of those sanctions. Kirill Dmitriev, envoy for Russian President Vladimir Putin, called the suspension of the Graham Act “an important and truly historic moment”, according to The Hindu.
