The United Kingdom National Cyber Security Centre assesses it as highly likely that AI-powered malware will have been used in a ransomware attack on UK critical infrastructure by 2028.

The center chief, Richard Horne, said the United Kingdom will likely face AI cyberattacks on critical infrastructure by 2028, from criminals and states — including China and Russia.
