North Korea’s Missile Administration tested on Oct 31 a cluster-bomb warhead intended for tactical ballistic missiles, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The test assessed the warhead’s adaptation to combat and its power. The agency said the Standard Type 2 warhead can turn a target area of 12 to 13 hectares into ashes with its highest-density power. Analysts quoted by Reuters said the tests could be part of efforts to modernize the military, which gained experience in modern warfare by sending troops to the war in Ukraine alongside Russia, according to Reuters, in a report republished by the Straits Times.
