Polls published on Friday put Israel's governing coalition and the main opposition bloc almost neck-and-neck, with half a million first-time voters casting ballots, according to the BBC.
On the eve of the election, opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot said at a rally in Tel Aviv that Netanyahu “will stop at nothing — no lie, no extreme measure — to stay in power”, according to the Times of Israel.
