The European Union “strongly condemned” violent settler attacks in the West Bank, including attacks against European diplomats, the bloc’s foreign policy spokesperson said on Sunday, according to the Jerusalem Post.

The statement came a day after Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot said Israeli settlers had attacked Palestinian civilians, European diplomats and a French mayor in the occupied West Bank. The Israeli prime minister’s office urged caution before drawing conclusions from reports of attacks on European diplomats by masked Israelis in “Judea and Samaria” — the name the Israeli government uses for the occupied West Bank — and said any violence against diplomats is unacceptable, according to the Jerusalem Post.
