Israel’s finance ministry was unaware of any plans to immediately end US military assistance before President Donald Trump’s announcement on Tuesday, according to Israel’s Channel 12.
The $3.8bn in annual aid was expected to provide a significant source of funding for Israel’s defense budget in 2027 and 2028, Channel 12 economics correspondent Yuval Sade reported. In the same interview in which he spoke about the strike on Iran, Trump announced that the US would end $4 billion in funding to Israel after the end of this year.
