Russia’s Defense Ministry said the attack on Komyshuvakha targeted Ukrainian military units near the village and in two other settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, according to Reuters, in a text republished by UOL.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the ministry said up to 25 Ukrainian soldiers were killed and that 15 vehicles and an electronic warfare station were destroyed. Both Russia and Ukraine deny deliberately targeting civilians in the conflict. Ukrainian authorities say the school that was hit was being used as an aid distribution point and shelter; President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian forces first dropped aerial bombs on the school, used for aid distribution every Monday, and that no classes were being held. The acting head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Mykhailo Semikin, said five people were wounded and nearly 50 were still missing.
