Israel’s President Isaac Herzog formally received the official results of the election to the 26th Knesset, and consultations with the parties on forming a government begin on Wednesday evening, November 4, a date that marks 31 years since the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

Herzog urged compromise after a divisive election. On Israeli Arab society, he said that “one must not smear an entire public” and that he condemns “the vulgar and racist expressions” heard recently. He also said he respects the head of the Shin Bet, David Zini, and the attorney general, Gali Baharav-Miara, and that he spoke with both of them this morning.
