Israel’s Shin Bet internal security service has allegedly adopted a practice of threatening targets in Gaza by phone, offering them a choice between having their family bombed and being killed alone, according to a report by the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper carried by the Jerusalem Post.

The most recent case cited is that of Muhammad Al-Bayouk, allegedly targeted by an Israeli military drone on the roof of a displaced-persons shelter in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, after receiving a phone call from a Shin Bet officer. The Jerusalem Post says the Israeli military and the Shin Bet have not been approached for comment on the matter.
