Kim Jong-un inspected the Nampho Shipyard and called for a rapid buildup of naval combat power to counter “hostile acts of the enemies,” according to North Korean state media.
The inspection was reported on Wednesday. Kim saw a new warship under construction and described it as “incomparably huge and intimidating” compared with the destroyer built last year. Shin Jong-woo, secretary-general of the Korea Defense and Security Forum, said North Korea appeared to have unveiled for the first time the construction site of a new vessel believed to be a 10,000-ton cruiser.
