Fresh curfews were imposed across the city centers of Paris and Lyon on Tuesday after the first quiet night since the worst rioting in years, adding open-ended bans to the entry-and-stay ban already applied in Paris, according to NPR.

Paris police said the curfew in two zones — around Place de la République and the Les Halles shopping district — had restored public peace and would remain in place for as long as necessary, and Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said the deployment of forces for Saturday’s protests will be massive, with Sentinelle troops guarding sensitive sites.
