President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after the humanitarian operation in Oleshky there was a moment when the next steps could have shown that progress toward peace was possible, and that the strike on Komyshuvakha, in the Zaporizhzhia region, showed Russia was “sending an entirely opposite signal” and “counting on more killings.” He called for “a strong and tough response” from the world.
Zelenskyy wrote on X that after the first aerial strike there was a “double-tap strike” with nine more bombs aimed specifically at the shelter where people were taking cover. The death toll differed between sources: Ukraine's emergency services counted at least 24, and TRT World reported 26.
