The United States (US) embassy in Ottawa has accused Canadian politicians of trying to influence its midterm elections, pointing to Canada’s efforts to push back against President Donald Trump’s tariff campaign.

In a fact sheet, the embassy says the Canadian government “brushes off concerns” about potential interference, even as its ministers openly describe plans to influence American politics in official documents and public appearances. It cites comments and actions, such as meetings with US Democrats and calls for retaliatory tariffs against the US.
