A tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz was hit by two limpet mines fixed by a small boat and suffered a fire in its engine room, the first successful use of such explosives in the waterway since the start of the United States (US) war with Iran in February, according to Reuters, in a text republished by gCaptain.

The British naval agency United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the crew is safe, with no environmental impact, the fire extinguished and the vessel heading to its next port, according to OilPrice. The navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said two tankers attempting unauthorized routes in the strait encountered incidents and were stopped in the waterway's southern waters, according to Mehr News. Brent crude reached US$117 a barrel in Asian trade amid fears of escalation after the US midterm elections on November 3, according to OilPrice.
