Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded US first lady Melania Trump the Order of Princess Olga, first class, an honor for women who have made exceptional contributions in science, education, culture and charitable work, according to Reuters, in a text republished by Investing.com.

The presidential decree, dated November 2, cited her “significant personal contribution” to humanitarian support for Ukraine and her work to help Ukrainian children, including those deported or forcibly moved from Russian-occupied territory. Ukrainian officials have said she played a pivotal role in organizing the six-day ceasefire to evacuate civilians from Oleshky, which concluded on Sunday, the longest local pause in fighting since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. Nearly 800 people were evacuated, Melania Trump said. Russian and Ukrainian delegations — made up of ombudsmen involved in the evacuation mission and senior officials — are due to meet at the White House on Thursday at her invitation. The White House said Melania Trump had “independently initiated engagement between the two warring nations and successfully secured a ceasefire.”
