At least 60 Orthodox Christians were killed in separate attacks on October 20 and 24 in Ethiopia’s Oromia region — 14 people on the 20th in Gora Silingo, in Merti, and another 46 on the 24th in Tereta, Chole and Birbo, in Shirka — according to Ethiopian Orthodox Church officials.
The attacks were blamed by a local official on a newly formed rebel coalition, the Alliance for Survival, which includes the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), which has not commented but has denied previous attacks against civilians, according to the BBC.
