Judge Jesse Furman ruled that the Trump administration overstepped the boundaries of executive authority when it fired federal prosecutor Maurene Comey without cause, Al Jazeera reported.

Furman granted her back pay from her firing on July 16, 2025, through December and said she is entitled to “retroactive reinstatement” for that period. The ruling came hours before court documents in the new case against her father, James Comey, became public, Le Monde reported.
