Pope Leo XIV called Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday to discuss the war in Ukraine, the Vatican said.
According to the Vatican, the pontiff asked Putin to pause attacks to allow food and supplies to enter and residents to leave voluntarily from areas under crossfire, and expressed grave concern about the humanitarian situation in Oleshky, a Russian-occupied city in southern Ukraine.
