Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed a summit next month with US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping to negotiate an end to the four-year-old war in Ukraine on terms favorable to Moscow, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the discussions.

The Kremlin suggested holding the trilateral dialogue on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, set for November 18 and 19 in Shenzhen, Reuters reported, in text republished by WHBL. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed to the Journal that there were discussions about a possible meeting, but said there is still no clear understanding about the meeting itself or its agenda. A senior US official said Trump had not agreed to such a summit.
