Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said a supertanker carrying more than 2 million barrels of crude oil struck a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz, triggering an explosion and a massive fire, in a statement released on Saturday.
The IRGC also said, in a report published by Mehr News, that the vessel was attempting to transit the strait through an unauthorized route when it hit the mine.
