The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the most prominent pro-Israel lobby group in the US, announced on Wednesday (21) that it will stop endorsing candidates and making direct contributions to them, while keeping the work of its super PAC, United Democracy Project.
In a letter to members, the group’s leadership said the 2026 election was “one of the most challenging environments in recent memory” and predicted that the difficulties “will continue to grow in the years ahead”. The New York Times reported that AIPAC plans to give as much as 9 million dollars to a PAC backing Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers over Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, and that the group had already spent 32 million dollars seeking to defeat El-Sayed in the primaries.
