Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Thursday that three oil tankers exploded and caught fire after hitting sea mines over the past 24 hours while attempting to cross an unauthorized route south of the Strait of Hormuz, in a statement carried by state media.

The claim has no independent confirmation. The independent maritime report came earlier, from the British agency United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which reported a ship on fire in the strait without details on the cause or casualties.
