In an Associated Press (AP) election-day poll, about six in ten voters say the United States made the “wrong decision” in taking military action against Iran.
A recent Pentagon estimate cited by the AP puts the cost of the war at more than US$47.1 billion. About one-third of voters say the war with Iran was a “crucial” factor in their vote for Congress, less than the share of those concerned about the cost of living and government corruption. In the same poll, about six in ten voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of the presidency. The economy was the top issue facing the country for 39% of voters, followed by the state of democracy at 32%.
