Newark police are investigating a shooting in the area of East Main Street and Choate Street, near the University of Delaware campus, on October 31 at about 11:13 p.m., according to the Newark Police Department.

The department said there does not appear to be an ongoing threat to public safety related to the incident and that Main Street is closed from Library Avenue to Academy Street during the investigation. The university sent an emergency alert asking people to avoid the area. No details had been released on injuries or arrests.
