Donald Trump formally endorsed Benjamin Netanyahu’s re-election and wrote that if Israel has “the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so”, in a Truth Social post on Sunday.

Trump called Netanyahu a “great warrior prime minister and an even greater partner for peace” and said Iran had been “systematically destroyed both militarily and financially, and unless they change their ways, rapidly, we will soon finish the job”. The Israeli election will be on October 27, and Haaretz’s tracker projected on Sunday 52 seats for the opposition alliance led by Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar party against 51 for the Likud-led coalition, with no outright majority for anyone.
