A fire swept through the Canadian military base at Wainwright, in Alberta, on Saturday, killing at least four service members and leaving 19 people in critical condition, the BBC reported.
The fire broke out at around 16:00 local time (22:00 GMT) on a training range; uncommonly strong winds caused it to spread rapidly and shift direction towards soldiers taking part in exercises, Major-General Wade Rutland, Commander of 1st Canadian Division, said. Alongside the dead, a further 39 people are in hospital, 19 of them in critical condition. The deceased were identified as Sgt Morgan Wong and Ptes Shaun Farrell, Aidan Goulding and Hayden Lykkemark.
