A large fire killed and injured people at a Canadian military base in Alberta, according to the defense minister, who did not confirm the number of casualties.

Prime Minister Mark Carney said a “serious incident” caused the fire at the base, and Defence Minister David McGuinty confirmed deaths and injuries late on Saturday.
