Israel’s military detained about 90 volunteers with Rabbis for Human Rights in the West Bank on Wednesday, including Democratic congressional nominee Brad Lander and former deputy attorney-general Yehoshua Schoffman, according to sources cited by the Jerusalem Post.
The volunteers were accompanying Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest in the village of Nehalim near Bethlehem, an area farmers had been unable to access for three years, according to the group. NPR put the number at about 80 American and Israeli rabbis and activists detained as they helped Palestinians harvest olives near a settlement in the occupied West Bank.
